Abstract: | Abstract On October 12, 1998, the U.S. Congress passed the controversial Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), ending many months of negotiations. President Clinton signed the Act into law on October 28. The DMCA made major changes in U.S. copyright law to address new issues created by the Internet and other new technologies. The Act also amended U.S. copyright law to comply with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Copyright Treaty adopted at the WIPO Diplomatic Conference in December 1996. |
