Research on the Synthesis of 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethylpiperidin-4-yl benzoate

The transesterification of methyl benzoate and 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinol to produce 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethylpiperidin-4-yl benzoate was reserached.Four catalysts activities to the reaction were investigated and the catalytic effect was the highest in the presence of titanium iso-propylate.The influences of reaction temperature,reaction time,mole ratio of reaction and catalyst dosage were also studied.Under optimal reaction conditions of n（methyl benzoate）：n（1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidiol）=1：1.1,reaction time 8 h,reaction temperature 180 ℃ and mass fraction of catalyst to total reactant 0.3%,the product consisted of 23% of mono-（1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperidinyl） monmethyl sebacate and 73% of bis-（1,2,2,6,6-pentamethyl-4-piperi-dinyl） sebacate,and the reaction yield could reach 93%.
