Analysis and Discussion of the Signal Used in the Test of Primary Frequency of Hydropower Units

The step signal is usually used as the frequency input signal in the test of primary frequency.However,the hydro units with qualified tests are often examined in the primary frequency in the actual grid operation.Based on the above background,this paper analyzes the test signal of primary frequency,points out the limitation of using step signal to conduct primary frequency,and puts forward a supplementary scheme to conduct test of primary frequency with adjustable pulse signal.It is suggested that the primary frequency index should be examined under the pulse signal of small pulse width(6-10s)after selecting the optimal primary frequency control parameters through the step signal test.
