Let More to Participate in Urban Planning

Through the analysis and introduction of Advocacy Planning Theory prevailed in the sixties, this essay clarifies that the carry-out of city-plan is one critical content in city-planning social activities and points out that advocacy-planning can promote the seriousness and openness of city-planning. This essay also tries to find out the advantages and disadvantages of advocacy-planning by analyzing its contents and examples, from which it is inferred that advocacy-planning is the most practical application of city planning theory and should be the right field for city planner to further the research. Finally, this essay analyzes the situation of advocacy planning in China and advocates the establishment of advocacy-planning theory system with China characteristics.
