| Abstract: | The paper presents some basic technical considerations for planning the national long distance and high speed telecommunication trunk lines.These include:choice of operating wavelength,new design of single mode fibers,application of fiber amplifiers,application of dense wavelength division multiplex systems,requirement on new photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits.Finally,the paper briefly mentions the technical trends of transoceanic submarine optical fiber cables. |
