Abstract:Using triethanolamine as monomer,polytriethanolamine(PTEA)was successfully synthesized via dehydration and condensation process at high temperature.Then a series of cationic quaternary ammonium salt surfactants Rn-PTEA were obtained by modifying PTEA with bromoalkanes.The structure of Rn-PTEA was characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR.The influences of the length of alkane chain and the degree of quaternization on the surface tension of Rn-PTEA were investigated.The flotation properties were evaluated and the flotation mechanism was discussed.The experimental results showed that the surface tension of Rn-PTEA decreased first and then increased with the alkane chain length getting longer.The surface tension of Rn-PTEA reduced with the increase of quaternization degree.The PTEA which was modified by bromooctadecane(molar ratio of bromooctadecane to PTEA was 1.1∶1.0)had the optimal flotation performance.With the addition of 100 mg/L,the turbidity reduction rate of the produced water was 96.32%for samples of some heavy oil field.Finally,the flotation mechanism is speculated as follows:flotation agent is preferably adsorbed to the bubble surface after it is added into the sewage,by changing the electrification and wettability of the bubble,the adhesion between the oil droplet and the bubble are strengthened,so the flotation effect gets to be improved.
