Abstract: | A partial molar volume technique was used to estimate the coordination number of oxygen ions around a boron ion in PbO·2B2O3 and BaO·2B2O3 melts. The boron coordination number appeared to be lower in the melt than in the crystal of PbO·2B2O3, whereas it was nearly the same in the melt and crystal of BaO·2B2O3. |
