Analysis of the interaction between the module structures and the deck of an offshore oil production platform

A matrix method of analysis of the interaction between the module structures and the deck of an offshore oil production platform is presented. The interaction problem does not appear to have been given adequate attention before and as a result, design problems have occurred in some platforms currently under construction for the North Sea. The proposed method of analysis is very simple and is suitable for use in practical design office work.
