Erbium doped fluorozirconate fibre laser operating at 1.66 and 1.72 mu m

Pulsed laser emission at 1.66 and 1.72 mu m has been observed in a multimode fluorozirconate fibre doped with erbium under excitation at 514 nm. The threshold absorbed pump power for laser oscillation was measured as 90 mW.<>
