Abstract: | Nanoscale semiconductor quantum dots in colloidal suspensions are observed to blink with off times, τoff, that scale as 1/τ < eqid2 > 3/2. In this paper, it is shown by relating the fluctuations of the surface charge density on the quantum dot to fluctuations
in the double layer potential, that the related fluctuations in the barrier potential have exactly the functional form needed
to result in an inverse-power-law distribution for off times. |
