The Role of BIM Manager in the Life-cycle Project Management andIts Value in the Intelligent Construction

Since the release of the guidelines for the Architectural Information Development from 2011 to 2015 in 2011， theapplication of BIM（ building information modeling） technology in the life-cycle project management has lasted for over ten years.Despite the significant progress in the application of BIM technology in project management， the overall development level of BIMneeds further improvements. The slow development process of BIM is caused by the market policies， total profits， advancedtechnologies and human resources. In this paper， a new approach of the nomination of BIM manager to the life-cycle projectmanagement is proposed， aiming at improving both the informatization level and management efficiency of a project. The role of theBIM manager in project management was studied. The value of BIM manager in intelligent construction was analyzed. What’s more,the prospect of the application of BIM manager in the construction of smart cities was discussed. The results can provide guidelinesfor the development of BIM technology in project management.
