| 摘 要： | 从使用范围、构成手段、交际特征等三个方面讨论了政治活动中英语委婉用语的使用情况，指出在西方政治场合中，委婉语的使用涉及到语言交流技巧，有时是与粉饰和欺骗联系在一起的。

| Abstract: | The paper studies English political euphemism from three aspects: categories, formation and communicative features. The paper points out that the ultimate purpose of some political euphemisms is mainly to cover the truth, to evade responsibility and to lessen the effects of wars. Defensive principle, to a certain extent, is nothing but an euphemism for politicians. |
