The Application of Rigless Operation Technology in Offshore Well Abandonment

Rigless well abandonment was a technique used for a special designed engineering vessel and various above water and underwater equipment to abandon an offshore well. The main equipment included a dynamically positioned engineering vessel, lifting equipment, various umbilicals and winches, subsea well control devices and relevant assistant equipment and tools. Compared with conventional rig abandonment techniques, the rigless well abandonment has the advantages of lowcost and safety. It has wide prospects in offshore deepwater well workover and stimulation operations in the future.
