Abstract:In a horizontal shock tube, the influence of aqueous vapour on gasoline fuel combustion and detonation is successfully studied by means of quartz transducer, PVF_2 technique and infrared detector. The investigation results show that the aqueous vapour is possessed of an intensively suppressive effect to fuel combustion from normal to detonation. It could also make the spread velocity and pressure of explosion wave in combustion much slower and lower than in gasoline combustion without adding aqueous vapour. Thereby, the antidetonation behaviour is improved and the service life of the engine is extended.
