Reply to the Comment on the Fractional Fourier Transform in Optical Propagation Problems

The application of the fractional Fourier transform (FRT) to optical propagation problems is re-examined as a reply to the recent comment by S. Abe and J. T. Sheridan. It is shown that their criticism to our previous consideration of Fresnel diffraction in the context of the FRT is not appropriate.
