Solvent effects on mechanisms and characteristics of electrode reactions

Some interesting results of recent experimental studies on electrode potentials, kinetic parameters and reaction mechanisms of electrode reactions in various organic and mixed solvents are presented. The relationship which was revealed between the R₊ value of the modified Born equation and donor number is introduced. Solvent effects are discussed on the mass transport of reactant and product, the electron transfer at the electrode-solution interface, the preceding or the following chemical reaction of electron transfer and the oxidation states.
