The Analysis and Solutions for Shutdown of Compressor for Propylene Circulating Gas

The compressor for propylene circulating gas is an important equipment in propylene gas recovery section of polypropylene plant, the propylene consumption and the cost are closely related to the operating conditions and operating cycle of the compressor. The shutdown reasons of the compressor from 2010 to 2011 were analyzed, the influencing factors to long-term and stable operation found out. The primary shutdown reasons of the compressor were caused by powder, water and triethyl aluminum entrained into the low-pressure recovery of propylene gas. In order to reduce failure rate of the equipment, the suitable technical improvement measures were put into effect. Because of the technological improvements, the operating cycle of the equipment has been extended, and the consumption of propylene reduced.
