Analysis of the texture of heterogeneous Al–Cu–Fe coatings containing quasicrystalline phase

The structure of heterogeneous Al–Cu–Fe coatings produced by electron beam physical vapour deposition was studied. The coating compositions were varied close to the optimal composition of icosahedral phase. Axial textures of both icosahedral and β-cubic phase were observed. The type of axial texture of quasicrystalline component correlates with the texture type of the crystalline phase.
