Abstract:Mini-specimens were cut from a cooled blade to study the influence of dimension variation on the strength and the fatigue life of single crystal cooled blades. Firstly, the tensile experiments were carried out to study the effect of dimension on the strength of the cooled blade. Secondly, the stress factor combining the crystallographic constitutive model was introduced to simulate the strength and the fatigue life of the cooled blade. Furthermore, the strength and fatigue life of two kinds of the cooled blades were simulated. The tensile experiments of the mini-specimens show that the ultimate stress of the mini-specimen is smaller than that of the standard specimen. The safety factor should be considered in the strength assessment of the cooled blade due to the dimensional effect. The strength and fatigue life comparison between the standard blade and mini blade shows that the variation of dimension decreases the strength and the fatigue life of the cooled blade remarkably.
