Abstract:The quantities of impurities generated and their distribution in different sections in a 10 000 t/a plant for oxidative dehydrogenation of butene into butadiene with B-02 ferric catalyst were investigated. The results showed that all together 14 impurities were generated,including oxygen-containing compounds, alkynes, and organic acids, and their total actual recovery was 1.164%. The major impurities and their respective actual recoveries were as follows: dimers 0.361%, ethyl-acetylene 0.18%, benzene 0.24% and acetaldehyde 0.152%. The distribution of impurities indicated that the plant effluent reached the discharge criteria, and the existing washing device for removal aldehydes was not necessary, but a device for removal of alkynes had to be added to the plant.
