Research on Orthogonal Transformation in Digital Image Processing

In the progress of digital image processing, because of its special property, the orthogonal transformation is used extensively. It is the most important transformation in digital signal processing. The important property of orthogonal transformation has been introduced, and the meaning of using orthogonal transformation in digital image processing has been discussed. We paid more attention on standard radix, and displayed the standard radix image of the DCT which is taken as an example. The result of orthogonal transformation of every digital image is the sum of many standard radix images with coefficient. This is very useful for studying and teaching orthogonal transformation.
