Abstract:In the paper,the failure models of the gravel pile were discussed.The effect of reinforcement on bearing capacity of the pile is analyzed and the computation formula of the ultimate bearing capacity of the pile was derived by the limit equilibrium principle.By analysis: the bearing capacity of the pile was greatly increased if the pile was tied with geogrid or geotextile,particularly by high tensile strength geogrid or geotextile;on the usual condition,the ultimate bearing capacity of the pile usually decreases as the pile-diameter increased;the bearing capacity would increases with the increasing of the pile matetial friction angle.
