| Abstract: | In this paper the significance of glasses for photonics in the development of information technology and their situation in special glasses are pointed out. The development trend of the main categories of glasses for photonics, such as laser glass, optical functional glass, nonlinear optical glass, optical waveguide glasses and photon_induced storage glass, is introduced. |
