Abstract:The surface tension and density of nickel and Ni-S melts containing Al2O3 and TiN refractory-phase nanoparticles (RPNPs) are studied by the sessile drop method using a digital camera and computer processing of images. The dependences of the structural properties of Ni, Ni-(Al2O3,TiN), Ni-S, and Ni-S-(Al2O3,TiN) melts on temperature and the type and size of RPNPs are determined. It is found that the surface tension decreases with increasing temperature, the temperature dependence of the surface tension is inverted, the degree of loosening in the Ni-S-(Al2O3,TiN) melts decreases, and Ni-S-RPNP ensembles affect the melt structure.
