A Doubly Orthogonal Wavelet Packets for CDMA Communication

Wavelet packets have been regarded as a promising technology for waveforms in code division multiple access(CDMA) communication system. It has great advantage and potentiality in improving the performance of the communication system. Using the orthonormal wavelet packets as address codes can eliminate interference between users and has the property of enabling multirate communication. The paper describes a signal set which utilizes a double orthonormal wavelet based on wavelet packets and binary Walsh codes. The computer emulation shows that the double orthonormal wavelet produces much better self- and cross-correlations than the conventional wavelet packet sets and comparable to the pseudo random binary codes. The double orthogonality may also simplify the complexity of the structure of the communication system.
