Abstract:Alkaline cementitious material is a noticeable kind of new materials appearing in recent years.This material posses various good construction properties with simple production technology and aboundant raw materials.It uses a large amount of industrial wastes and reduces environmental pollution.It is proved theoretically that alkali-alkaline earth aluminum silicate compounds can be formed in the rcactions between the alkaline elements of family 1(or together with the alkaline earth elements of family 2)and the elements of family 3 or family 4 in periodic table of the elements,The production history,present situation and various properities of this kind of material are comprehensively introduced.The formation theory,characteristics of hydration products and hydration mechanism of alkali cementing material are also demonstrated.The research achievements of the former USSR,Russia and Ukraine in this field are specially introduced.
