Plasticisation and thermal characterisation of acrylic fibres

Abstract:The effect of a range of dyebath additives on the thermal behaviour, swellability and second-order glass transition temperature of an acrylic fibre (Leacril) has been studied in an attempt to correlate fibre properties with dyebath conditions. Glass-transition temperature was determined using filament length extension, differential scanning calorimetry and dye uptake techniques.
