Abstract:On the background of breaking down of Harbin water supply due to the pollution accident of the Songhua River, the paper documents the influence of the decreased influent flow on the operation of Taiping Municipal Sewage Treatment Plant and the efficiency of emergency measures. The results show that the decreased influent flow leads to the shock load, lack nutrition and low temperature of the sewage treatment plant. The application of bioaugmentation measures can prevent the sludge deteriorating and decrease the shock load efficiently. The COD, NH3 - N and SS concentrations in the effluent are 44 mg/L, 7 mg/L and 23.5 mg/L, respectively, if the corresponding parameters in the influent are 472 mg/L, 130.9 mg/L and 200 mg/L, respectively. The smooth transition of the sewage treatment plant in the period of influent decreasing is realized.
Keywords:sewage treatment plant   temperature    bioaugmentation measure environmental accident   decreased influent flow   low
