从"东南西北"方位词看中西文化的差异

语言是一种社会现象和文化载体，同时又是文化的一个重要组成部分．在语言的各要素中，词汇是基本要素．因文化差异在词汇层面上有所体现，对词汇的解释也必然能体现民族或文化之间的差异．以“东南西北”四个方位词及其所蕴涵的文化差异来探寻汉英民族不同的文化特点，在跨文化交际和外语教学中具有重要意义．

Differences Between Chinese and Western Cultures in Nouns of Locality:East,South,West and North

Language is a kind of social phenomenon and cultural carrier,and an important part of culture as well.Vocabulary is an essential element in all the elements of a language.Since cultural diversities give expressions to the use of a word,the interpretation of the word inevitably reflect national or cultural differences.On the basis of nouns of locality(east,south,west and north)and their containing cultural diversities,this paper tries to probe into the different cultural features in Chinese and British nations,which is of great significance in cross-cultural communication and foreign language teaching.
