| Abstract: | he origin and mechanism of cellular automata are introduced in this paper. Cellular automata are compared and combined with the artificial intelligence techniques in soft computing. A range of applications in chaos and fractal, image processing, intelligent materials, machine learning and complex phenomena imitation are reviewed. The suggestions for future development of cellular automata are also discussed. |
