Determination of $C_{4} A_{3} S$ in type K cement and clinker using maleic acid-methanol and ammonium chloride-water as extracting agents

Abstract:	This paper describes a simple chemical method for determining $C_{4} A_{3} S$ in Type K cement and clinker. The method combines two separation procedures, a maleic acid-methanol leach and an ammonium chloride-water leach. All silicates and sulfates, except $C_{4} A_{3} S$ , are extracted. The remaining SO₃ in the residue which can be quantitatively determined exists only as $C_{4} A_{3} S$ .
