Selecting and testing heavy-duty synthetic ropes

Synthetic fibre ropes — notably of nylon, polypropylene and polyester — are proving invaluable in industry. Particularly at sea, their qualities of flexibility, long life and resistance to damage have led to their wide adoption in place of steel and natural-fibre ropes. Consultant R.K.
