| Abstract: | An E-band Raman amplifier in nonzero dispersion fibre is demonstrated. 1.4 /spl mu/m water absorption does not hinder the amplifier itself but its characterisation due to water vapour in the external measurement instruments. The E-band could be used to extend the optical telecommunications bandwidth using nonzero dispersion fibre-based systems. |
