With the rapid development of nanotechnology, gold nanoparticles has been extensively used in the field of food detection for their specific optical properties electrical properties and good biological compatibility. The application and the merits and demerits of gold nanoparticles in the food detection were summed up, and the future development of gold nanoparticles in the food detection was discussed in this paper.
