On River Training of the Lower Wei River

The paper summarized up the river training works of the lower Wei River of 20 years from three aspects of planning, designing and constructing. The river course from Xianyang bridge to Lintong gaging station on the lower Wei River is of shifting channel, the course below Lintong gaging station is of bending channel. The main aim of the training is flood protection, taking the beach land protection and irrigation into consideration at the same time. The design training discharge is 2820m~3/s. The principle for the determination of control lines is "flat on the upper part, steep on the middle and smooth on the lower part". Different types of the dam includes T-shaped dam, dank paving and swallow wing ridge with two way of constructing: one is building the dam in dry beach, the other is filling the dam in the water.
