Abstract:It is difficult to detect the tangential moving target relative to the radar through traditional radial Doppler frequency of a single antenna and estimate its speed. To solve this problem, a new method, based on cross-correlation of dual- antenna echoes, is proposed in this paper to detect tangential moving target. The phase change information is firstly obtained by calculating multi-period cross-correlation of different receiving antennas. Then the frequency of the echo path difference between the two antennas is acquired through band-selective thinning spectrum analysis (ZOOM-FFT) and the frequency is used to realize a more accurate estimation of the velocity of the tangential moving target. Finally the target is detected by the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detector. To verify the detection accuracy of the algorithm, simulation experiments are carried out under different conditions with or without noise and with different number of targets. Furthermore, actual scene tests, a radar with a frequency of 10 GHz is also performed to detect the tangential moving target vertical to the radar beam and the velocity estimation error of the targets is less than 0. 5 m/ s.
