The Crack Toughness of Heat Treatable Steels. A survey on K_Ic- measurements of heat treatable steels is presented. The influences of factors like the heat-treatment, test-temperature, micro-structure and the previous thermal and mechanical history of the starting material on the K_Ic-values are described. K_Ic-values at room-temperature of typical steels are tabulated.
