Abstract:In order to sum up experience in design and operation, and to raise the scientific and technical level in hydropower, Chinese Union of Electric Power Enterprises and Chinese Society of Hydroelectric Engineering organized an investigation and summarization of the installed capacity of partial hydropower stations built in China by means of making a comparison between the verification of design and the practical operation. Gezhouba Hydropower Station is the largest one among the hydropower stations built in China, The planning and operation of the station involves the comprehensive development of the Yangtze Valley and the regulation of the electric network in Central China. The investigation and summarization of the station is of great value in theory and practice, and shows that the actual benefits of the electric power and electric energy are greater than those expected in design. The installed capacity and parameters selected for the station are economical and reasonable. The verification of the station broke through the restriction of the conventional verification method and enriches the theory and practice of China's hydropower construction.
