Abstract:A new scale inhibitor of quaternary copolymer was prepared by aqueous solution polymerization with the raw materials of maleic anhydride(MA),acrylic acid(AA),2-acryloylamino-2-methyl propane sulfonic acid(AMPS) and methyl acrylate(MAC).The optimum polymerization process was determined.The influence of polymerization conditions on the inhibiting capacity to BaSO4 scale was studied,such as monomer mole ratio n(MA) ∶n(AA) ∶n(AMPS) ∶n(MAC)=7 ∶6 ∶2 ∶4,the mass ratio of initiator to monomers 6.0%,reaction temperature 85 ℃,reaction time 3 h.The effects of scale inhibitor mass and pH value on scale inhibiting capacity were investigated.The result indicates that the copolymer scale inhibitor has good effect for preventing barium sulfate,and the scale preventing rate is more than 95%.
