Limitation of Orifice Flow Formula Used as Boundary Condition for Solving Interlock Equation of Water Hammer

This paper discusses the limitation of the steady orifice flow formula used approximately as the boundary condition in solving the interlocking equations of water hammer in a simple pipe, in which its end section is controlled by the needle valve, and points out that the limitation may introduce an errous calculation result inconsistent with practice, and proposes a calculation method for avoiding the above mentioned error.
