Stabilization Effect in Lead Lanthanum Titanate Ceramics During Aging in Ferroelectric Phase

Abstract:The reverse transformation (from ferroelectric to paraelectric phase) temperature in aged ferroeletric lead lanthanum titanate ceramics is measured precisely by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It is observed that the transformation temperature increases with increasing aging time, indicating ferroelectric phase is stabilized by aging. This behavior is similar to those in ferroelectric single crystal barium titanate. The origin of the stabilization effect in the system is discussed with respect to the diffusion of point defects.
