Construction and Application of Evaluation System Platform for the Regional Water Environment Carrying Capacity

In order to develop a generally applicable evaluation system for regional water environment carrying capacities, databases, geographic information systems and visual programming technology were employed and an intelligent evaluation system platform of water environment carrying capacity was developed. The overall designs and functions, as well as the structure of evaluation system for regional water environment carrying capacity were also introduced. This system is effective not only in calculating of water environment carrying capacity in present conditions, but also for the capacity predictions in the future, including the spatial distributions. Through its application in the Guanzhong region of Weihe River basin, the evaluation system proposed in this paper has been testified as a useful tool for evaluation and prediction of regional water and environmental carrying capacity.
