Review of Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies

For the worldwide energy shortages, high oil prices and deteriorating environmental pollution, environment-friendly cars become a focus. The development and application of new energy vehicle also becomes a new project and a new trend around the world. This paper reviews the types and characteristics of the hybrid cars, and highlights Toyota PRIUS which is the representative of series-parallel hybrid vehicle, Honda CIVIC which is the representative of parallel hybrid electric vehicle, and JAC J6 which is the representative of series hybrid electric vehicle. Their technical route and driving mode are described in detail.
