| Abstract: | A number of derivatives of thiocarboxylic acid were prepared from the reaction of 3-mercaptopropionic acid and alkyl halides, and screened for anti-rust properties in water-soluble metalworking fluids. Aqueous metalworking fluids containing octylthiopropionic acid or hexylthioacetic acid showed excellent anti-rust properties for water-soluble metalworking fluids. |
