Abstract: | Contends that mental health consultation has been dominated by G. Caplan's (see record 1964-06327-001) approach. Recently, it has been argued that mental health consultation can be better understood in open systems terms. The present article provides a case study of how the entry phase of the consultation process can be conceptualized in open systems terms and how this conceptualization provides both particular clarity of analysis and clearer directions for the solution of consultation problems.
