| Abstract: | The progress of telecommunications in the next decade will be characterized by the convergence towards an IP-based core network providing ubiquitous seamless access in an hierarchical and hybrid self-organizing network environment. The key to facilitate this convergence on the access side is the Reconfigurable Software Defined Radio (SDR) equipment. The article outlines and describes the SDR Architecture, and focuses on the choice of microprocessors and Software Architecture. |
