Abstract:The protection of active distribution networks is facing new challenges due to the massive access of distributed generators and the complex fault form caused by extreme disasters. Based on analyzing the characteristic difference of the voltage fault component in different fault types when a fault occurs inside or outside the protected zone, a new protection method based on the comparison of voltage fault components is proposed. The proposed method uses the estimation formula of the voltage fault components and the measured voltage and current fault components at one terminal of the transmission line to obtain the voltage fault components of the other terminal. By comparing the calculated voltage fault components with the measured voltage fault components, the voltage fault component ratio is obtained and used to identify the internal and external faults of the transmission line. The protection method can meet the protection requirements of the active distribution network in different fault scenarios such as short-circuit faults and broken-line faults, and has the advantages of not being affected by unmeasured branches, not being affected by the permeability of distributed generators, and having strong ability to withstand transition resistance.
