The Landscape Features and Living HeritageApproach of Historical Towns in the ThreeGorges Area

With the transformation of spatial governance, theconservation of historical towns in the Three Gorges Area isseeking a new perspective. In the post Three Gorges period, theregional historical towns are faced with many practical problems,such as the decline of landscape characteristics, the alienation ofcommunity composition, and the loss of focus of conservationplanning. From the perspective of living heritage, conservationshould analyze the causes of collaborative changes between socialchange and landscape evolution of historical towns in the ThreeGorges Area, and construct living heritage approach and copingstrategies with function, space and community continuity as thecore. The protective relocation of Gongtan historical town is atypical conservation practice in this period. It explores the livingheritage approach system of landscape characteristics of historicaltown, which has certain academic reference and significance for theconservation and development of regional historical towns.
