Analysis on devolatilization technology in bulk polymerization processes for styrenic resins

Specialities of the devolatilization processes and related techniques for the purification of styrenic resins in bulk polymerization operations were analyzed, and the development trend of devolatilization technology was discussed. It was concluded that the devolatilization operation in two stages, assisted by some inert fluids, was preferred to others in one stage or more than two stages for the production processes of styrenic resins in bulk polymerization ways, based on the theoretical analysis to the principles and to the patents in enhancing devolatilization.
