| Abstract: | This paper summerizes the recent development in the research of magneto-optical properties of ferrofluids and reports our studies of their magnetically induced birefringence and optical bistability. Experiments manifest that the ferrofluid thin films exhibit good infrared transmission and can be used as new types of magneto-optical materials. |
